First day of my life

Round 15: July 2024

(Emily is 16.)

Jackie loves working in her restaurant but at the same time she's more than ready to let Dawn take over in a few years.

Emily's been spending a lot of time with her grandparents because things are still a bit tense between her and her family. She's not completely healed yet but she's feeling better every day.

As much as Jackie and Ryland love their family they really enjoy spending quality time together. The hot tub is the perfect place to spend a warm summer night.

Notes:
  • Title reference: First day of my life by Bright Eyes.
  • I wanted to try something different for empty nesters because I had no idea what to do with this update. I think it turned out ok and I'll probably do this in the future as well. It was nice just playing and snapping some pictures without the pressure of coming up with a story.

  1. I am so stealing this idea. I get so lost when in the empty nester households too.

    1. Steal away, lol! Empty nesters are really difficult sometimes.

      Thanks for reading. :)

    1. Thanks. I really wanted to include them in my rotation so this worked out nicely.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  3. Nice to see Ryland and Jackie still happily in love!

You have to keep it fun for yourself, whatever it takes. For a long time, I skipped empty nesters entirely, because I just didn't have fun writing about them. I think your solution is definitely a good one. :)

    1. Ryland and Jackie are very much in love. I always find it so adorable when old married couples roll wants for each other.

I think sometimes the "pressure" of writing a full update can kill the fun for me if nothing major is going on in the household. This way I really enjoyed playing them and also got to share a little bit about them in the blog. I'll definitely do this for other households as well if I can't come up with anything to write about.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  4. This was a nice solution! I have completely axed a few playables, because I had no fun playing them. I'm glad that they are still happily married, and get to see their family too.

    1. I'm pretty attached to my older couples so I don't want to ditch them completely. And I kind of enjoy playing them anyway but sometimes it's really hard to come with anything to write with these kinds of households.

Jackie and Ryland are adorable, still rolling wants for each other and just being so sweet together.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  5. Good idea! I agree, sometimes the pressure of trying to make an update can spoil the fun of playing. Sometimes I integrate two households into one update when not much happens in one of them... I deliberately don't stick to a schedule of updates to save myself from feeling obligated to write about a particular household.

    1. I have a play schedule but it's not carved on stone so I can make changes on it if I feel like it or if a storyline requires it. I'm trying to play by heart now, doing what feels best and most fun for me.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  6. Nice idea for your empty nesters! I haven't got any as of yet, but this is a creative alternative for blogging.

    1. I'm glad you like the idea. Sometimes empty nesters can be fun and there's a real story going on but I'm glad I came up with an alternative plan so that I don't have to struggle to get a full update for each household if I don't feel like it.

      Thanks for reading. :)
