Wellington Gazette, August 2023

Every day in some small way
We miss you more than words can say.
In our hearts you will always stay
Loved and remembered every day.

15-year-old Ethan Hayes died tragically after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. He was attending Wellington High School and dreamed of a military career after high school graduation. He was a very active young man whose hobbies mostly involved sports.

Ethan is survived by his mother Alexandra, stepfather Quinn, twin brother Aaron, younger brother Jeremy, grandfather Patrick, two uncles and four cousins. He will be missed by friends from school.

  1. This poor family. Not that it won't be sad for everyone but I think it's going to be really tough for Aaron. Having someone there beside you for every new stage in life and then they're suddenly gone - it would be almost like losing a limb. :(

    1. It's hard for everyone but I agree with you that it'll be the hardest for Aaron. He's going to get to live all the things Ethan never will and he'll probably feel sad and a bit guilty about it.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  2. It must be hard on this family, but I think Aaron will have the thoughest time since Ethan has been in his life forever, and seeing they are twins, it's loosing your brother and best friend at the same time!

    1. Aaron will constantly feel like there's something missing. He and Ethan were so close to each other and now he's left to survive on his own. He has the support of his family and friends though so hopefully he'll be able to enjoy life once again.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  3. Reading the update was tough, but I think seeing this photo with those lovely words is even harder. This had to really, really tough to play.I just commend you for sticking it through.I know it adds extra drama and storylines, especially those which we may shy away from such as the death of a teen.I had to kill a sim in an old hood before and it left me feeling pretty guilty. But seeing how well her family and friends turned out, helped alot.

    1. I made a deal with myself that I wouldn't re-roll ROS even if I got a really bad one. I'm not allowed to plead with the Grim Reaper either. It's not easy to stick with something like this though. I hope the rest of the round is more up-beat although I'm sure Ethan's death will affect many updates.

I felt really guilty too when I killed Ethan. I know it's just a game but sometimes it feels pretty real.

      Thanks for reading. :)

  4. The poor thing. Barely getting started with his life. I'm glad Carla gave you the pass on the next ROS ;). I've given myself a pass on the death ROS for a little while. Maybe another round or 2 so I'll have an opportunity to increase my population a little more. Not looking forward to killing sims early, though.

    1. His life was cut too short but that's how it goes sometimes. It feels bad to think about everything that he never gets to experience.

I didn't even start using ROS until I was on round 9 and even then I don't think I had any death ROS. I give you permission to pass on the death ROS for at least two more rounds ;)!

      Thanks for reading. :)
